How it works
From sluggish to quick again
Describe what's happening
How slow, how long it's been that way, and what you mainly use the machine for day to day.
Find the bottleneck
Your local technician measures what's actually holding it back rather than assuming, then tells you what it needs.
Agree any further work
Including an honest answer on whether the machine is worth spending money on at all.
You see the difference
Where a tune-up is completed, we restart it together so you can see the difference. Payment is due after the visit; the $89 initial consultation applies even if an upgrade isn't worthwhile.
How we can help
Find the cause before choosing a slow computer fix
Sudden slowdowns
Tell us when the slowdown started and whether it followed an update, new software or a change in storage space. Note which applications are affected and whether the problem occurs offline as well as online.
Startup & background programs
We assess startup programs, available storage and software symptoms to identify worthwhile changes. A tune-up addresses suitable software and configuration issues; every slow computer needs its own assessment.
Storage & SSD upgrades
An SSD may help when a compatible computer’s existing drive is the bottleneck. We explain expected benefits and quote the hardware before you decide. An upgrade is not automatically the answer to every slowdown.
Files & data transfers
Keep a backup of important files where possible. Before a drive upgrade, we discuss data-transfer requirements. Missing files or a suspect drive may need a separate recovery assessment.
Pop-ups & unwanted software
Unexpected pop-ups or unfamiliar programs call for assessment. If you suspect compromise, see our virus removal and scam cleanup help before continuing sensitive tasks on the computer.
Compatibility & hardware faults
Operating-system and hardware compatibility affect your upgrade options. We discuss a supported setup for your actual device. Crashes or charging faults may need computer repair assessment.

Slow computer FAQs
Is it worth fixing an old computer, or buying a new one?
Whether an upgrade is worthwhile depends on the computer's condition, compatibility, supported operating systems and the cost of suitable parts. We compare the proposed work with replacement options after diagnosis. The $89 initial consultation fee applies to that assessment; any further labour or parts are agreed separately before continuing.
Will an SSD really make that much difference?
Replacing a mechanical drive with a compatible SSD can improve startup and application loading when storage is the bottleneck. The result depends on the rest of the computer, its condition and the software in use. We check compatibility and the cause of the slowdown before recommending a drive upgrade, and discuss backups or data transfer before work starts.
Will a tune-up affect your files, photos or programs?
No. A tune-up doesn't remove anything you use — your local technician clears out temporary files, unnecessary startup programs and bloatware, not your documents or photos. When fitting an SSD your local technician clones the existing drive across, so Windows, your programs, your files and your settings all come with it and the computer looks exactly as you left it, just much faster.
How long does a tune-up take?
Timing depends on the cause of the slowdown and the work you approve. A software tune-up may be completed during a visit. An upgrade may require suitable parts, a backup or data transfer and a return appointment. We confirm expected costs and the next steps after assessment; a same-day completion is not guaranteed.
Will the speed-up last, or will it get slow again?
An upgrade can address a current bottleneck, but future speed depends on hardware condition, available storage, software and how the computer is used. A cleanup cannot prevent every future slowdown. We explain the cause we found and leave practical steps to maintain backups, updates and free space.
Computer getting slow? Don't replace it yet.
Have your local technician assess it first. Most slow computers in the Hawkesbury are fixable for far less than a new one costs — and if yours isn't, your local technician will tell you that straight.
